Dog Health

for your puppies and older dogs.

A dog's health is one of the most important aspects of dog ownership. The health of a dog is in your hands, and in the hands of your vet. Dog health means a longer, more comfortable life for your dog.

An important point in the health of your dog is prevention. Take your dog to your vet for his/her puppy shots, and have the dog checked by the vet at least every year when he/she gets her rabies vaccine.

A Phurry Phable

Here Beloved Queen was in her realm. She loved taking care of all the puppies in the castle. And though it was a struggle, she tried to keep the King healthy. She wanted him to be as lean as he was when she first met him, but with all the table scraps, he was really putting on weight.

Here is Beloved Queen's advice:

Watch your dogs weight. Just like humans, dog obesity can result in illnesses.

Check your dog's health at least twice a year by taking him or her to a vet.

You should be getting innoculations for some of the dog diseases in your neck of the woods, as well as the standard shots.

Parvo-virus and distemper are one of those diseases that affects puppies, but older dogs may be affected as well.

Make sure you have the vet check the stool for heartworm.

Any sudden change in the health of your dog should be immediately looked at by the vet. Dogs can die in a matter of days or even a few hours if they are not properly diagnosed.

It has happened to my dog, Sunday, even though I took her to the vet at the first sign of illness. Twice, actually. This was after my sister's dog got sick on a Tuesday and had to be put to sleep on a Thursday..Believe it or not, both dogs had all of their shots.

Sometimes tragedies do happen. .

Beloved Queen says, "I hope this information is helpful. Here are some suggestions:
